What Is Ecotherapy?

HomeBlogWhat Is Ecotherapy?

When you think of therapy, you might think of the more traditional approach of talking with a therapist in an enclosed room as the therapist takes notes. Here at Jubilee, we also implement ecotherapy to implement more lasting effects and improvement on your mental health. Here is some information on ecotherapy to help you understand it better.

What Is Ecotherapy?

  • Embrace nature: Connecting with nature can help reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. Ecotherapy allows for time in nature to harness its calming effects and improve your mental health.
  • Spend time in nature: We have a 10-acre working farm that allows you to spend time connecting with your natural surroundings. You might try spending time gardening, tending to the animals, walking through lush fields and rustling trees, and more to allow your mind to slow down and reconnect with what can bring relaxation, joy, and healing.
  • Proven benefits: Research shows that ecotherapy has proven benefits. For example, your cortisol levels can drop after just 20 minutes in nature to reduce your stress, boost your immune system, and improve your sleep. Regular exposure to nature can also help regulate your circadian rhythm and improve your heart rate variability as well.
  • Free from pressure: Part of the reason why ecotherapy can be so calming and beneficial is because nature can provide freedom from the noises and pressure of daily life, so you have time to release and be calm.

We find that ecotherapy offers a wide variety of benefits, including mental and emotional healing. That’s why we prefer to include it in our therapeutic approach. To learn more about how and why we integrate ecotherapy into our approach, you are welcome to contact us.
